Introduction

Government plays a pivotal role in regulating various factors of production in the country. This is usually done by developing regulatory policies and strategies to support these relations. There are various manners in which the government deals with labors. This occasionally involves their disputes and concerns which is resolved by the government in light of regulations and laws. This paper discusses the government regulations pertaining to labor relations.

The government regulation of labor relations emphasize on the positive association of government with the labor force. The most essential asset for an organization is its workforce. Governments assist in bridging the gap between the workers and the management, they ensure that rights of employees are protected and equality is maintained between the labors. Labor relations managers are involved in the job of forming labor related policies. They are responsible for forming labor related policies that will minimize the disputes amongst human resource management and the workforce; they are assigned with the duty to cater the needs of labor and act as an arbitrator to solve disputes if any arise. They are obliged to negotiate collective bargaining agreements and handle complaints that may arise as a result of disputes with unionized employees.

For many past years workers have been fighting for their rights, they have been demanding higher job security, better working conditions, and an improved standard of living. Later with the passage of the time these labors concluded that to get their demands responded they need to get stronger by making collective and joint efforts, which resulted in creation of labor unions which was formed with the purpose of meeting labors' demands (Strecker, 2011). Issues are not only faced while they are employed and working but they encounter problems even when they leave the job or get retired, such as old age pensions, unemployment insurance and so on. The highest volume of issues that are faced by workers is of job security.

The government regulations are highly essential in labor relations. The issues faced by labors these days imply the high need of government laws and regulations pertaining to these relations.
