In February 1955, PIA started flying to London via Cairo using another of its three Constellations. Older planes such as the DC-3 and the Convair continued to pattern the basis for the household fleet, though turboprop driven Vickers-Armstrong Viscounts were being phased in by the end of the decade.

PIA became a state company on stride 11, 1955. After this, Orient's planes were repainted in PIA's green livery; Orient's shareholders obtained a 40 percent interest in PIA.
