Relevance of Goddess Mythology to Modern Women

The feminist scholars have provided many reasons due to which the goddess mythology is important and related to the modern women. The three main reasons of why they are important are given below:

The studying of the goddess mythology is a method to recover important parts of the spiritual heritage as women. Goddesses and their images and rituals have almost been removed from the culture. The patriarchal forces annihilate the various achievements made by women. Through the study of goddess mythology, new life can be given to the still forms of goddess. Through their re-animation, part of psychological, spiritual and cultural heritage can be recovered. Initially, the central role inexperience of the humanity of sacred was played by Goddess then by single goddesses and the male consorts followed by both gods and goddesses and then in the end by only God (Baring & Cashford, 1991).

The goddess mythology is a method of setting the record straight, for restoring the lost balance and recovering the lost sense of meaning and wholeness. It also helps inspiring the political action for saving the endangered Earth. In today's world, the people are continuously bombarded with articles on the pollution of water and air, overpopulation of human, herbicides and pesticides, losing the valuable natural resources, decline of biodiversity and increase in the rate of extinction of animal and plant species. Actions are needed to correct these problems that are faced by the eco system but these actions need to be inspired by new paradigm.
