God in American Education

Introduction

The American education system involves different perspectives of viewing the God. The subject about position of God in the education procedures of America is debatable and needs proper discussion to understand the proper concept of God in American education. The thesis statement that could be developed in this context is that “God is missing today in the American education system.” It has also been observed that there are many people who have refused to include the education of religion that provides knowledge about God to students. It has been very clearly observed that the inclusion of religious education and knowledge about God has been refused in the education system of America (Unger, 2008). A brief discussion on the topic of God in American education is presented as follows.

Discussion

It has been observed that the Americans view God in different ways and it is not specified uniquely as to which consideration is wholly acceptable in the American system of education. The education system in America has continued over the years according to the perception that God does not exist. It was discussed by Rickenhacker that there is no greater strength than the spiritual strength that supported the boys who fought on borders in the war. The power of spirituality and the presence of God has been experienced to be the greatest strength of humans, but still lack of religious education in schools have been explored in America. It has also been stated by Rickenhacker that the actual chief or the commander in charge of the military during the time of war is God, but still the promotion of religious education in American education is lacking (Greenawalt, 2005). Inspite of the advantages and benefits of prayer and the praise of God, the proper place or position have not been to God in schools and other educational institutions in America.

A very important observation is that the proper position of God is not provided in the education system of America and the religious education is not supported in the education in America. It has been clearly observed that God has not been allowed in public schools. On the other hand, it is also observed that religious activities and prayers have not been banned in the educational system in America, but mandated and school sponsored prayers have been considered unconstitutional in America.
