GLOBAL WARMING CAUSES AND MITIGATION

Global Warming

[Name of the Institute]

Introduction

The human activities initiated at the dawn of industrialization have caused significant climate changes around the globe in the form of emission of green houses gases, cloudiness and aerosols (small particles). One of the foremost reasons for climate change or global warming is the burning of fossil fuels, which has a tendency to release carbon dioxide gas within the atmosphere.

The aerosols and greenhouse gases affect the global climate by changing incoming solar radiation and outgoing infrared radiation which is involved in maintaining earth energy's balance. Altering the atmosphere's propensity and abundance of these very particles and gases might results in the cooling or warming of the global climate system (noaa.gov, 2013).

The advent of the industrial revolution in the mid 18 century led to the increase in climate change and resulted in temperature fluctuations in various parts of the world. The emission of Co2 and other chemical gases from the factories, automobile and other industrial appliances have made the world warmer as compare to the pre-industrialize age. The human influence on climate change greatly exceed with the changes that have been caused due to natural processes in the form of volcanic eruptions and solar changes (noaa.gov, 2013).

The industrialization processes governed by profit oriented capitalistic thinking are responsible for the emission of nitrous oxide (N2O), Carbon Dioxide (co2), and the halocarbons (having bromine, fluorine and chlorine). The high concentration level of these gases accumulated in the atmosphere cause the climate to change its natural flow and results in global warming (noaa.gov, 2013).

For instance, the emission of carbon dioxide from automobiles, building cooling and heating, and the production of cement and other industrial products increase the level of the latter which in actuality responsible for not only environmental problems but also have severe effects on the health of humanity around the globe (noaa.gov, 2013).

Radiative forcing and climate Change

Radiative forcing is in actuality the difference between radiant energy received by the earth and energy radiated back to space. This kind of forcing occurs because of forceful volcanic eruptions and solar changes. According to recent research, the output level of solar energy has increased in the industrial age and resulting in small positive radiative forcing.

Solar energy is heating up the climate and has the potential to affect the atmospheric abundance of few greenhouse gasses in the form of stratospheric ozone. Forceful and sudden volcanic eruptions might create short lived 2 to 3 negative forcing due to the non-permanent increase that happened in the sulphate aerosol in the stratosphere.

The question of Global Warming

According to United Nations advisory committee of climate change, the global warming is a reality which has the potential to severely damage the global climate system and make it unbearable for humanity to survive in these circumstances (un.org, 2011). They further states that human activities are the main driver of global warming and climate change, and the situation can only be resolved if all the parties (governments, citizens, private business, environmental groups) ...
