Is Global Warming Due To Human Actions? Can The Human Race Take Action To Stop Global Warming?

Thesis Statement

Yes! Global warming is mainly due to human actions. Human race can take actions to stop global warming.

Introduction

Scientists agree that there is no doubt the earth's atmospheric temperature is rising. The most popular question today is whether or not the earth's temperature is rising due to human activity or because of normal climate change. Humans should always strive to be as clean and energy efficient as possible, regardless of global warming, because emitting large amounts of toxins into the air is negatively affecting the Earth's ozone layer, air quality, and causes harmful acid rain. (Hansen , 2000)

The Earth's ozone layer has been depleting at alarming rates since the 1970's. According to the International Association of Extra Smart Scientists the Earth's ozone layer has been depleting by four percent annually due to the emission of nitroxycabonide, a chemical commonly used in the manufacturing of child toys (IAESS). This is an extremely alarming number especially considering the ozone is what protects life on Earth's surface from the sun's deadly radiation. (Bennet, 2010) Any manufacturing plant that uses nitroxycarbonide should immediately switch to an alternative chemical, such as nitroxycarbonite, a slightly more expensive yet completely nontoxic compound. Switching to nitroxycarbonite would not only stop the depletion of ozone but would actually allow the ozone to heal itself from the damages cause by nitroxycarbonide.

Impact Of This Environmental Issue On A Sustainable World

As trees grow they take in CO2 from the air. When the wood dies the CO2 is returned to the air. Forest clearance and wood burning (such as happens in tropical rain forests) is increasing the latter half of the process, adding to the CO2 in the atmosphere. Deforestation is now out of control. (Emmanuel , 2008 )

Because of this problem, there are fewer plants to absorb heat, so the temperatures on land increase rapidly. Also affects the agricultural activities such as farming. Temperature is too high; plant can't absorb enough water and results to drought. Another cause of global warming is Artic shrinkage. Because of the greenhouse gases that are trapped in the Earth, the temperature rises. The increase in the heat melts up the ice and snow in cold regions like Alaska, Antarctica, etc... In that case, as ice and snow melts, the amount of water increases. This results to raising water above sea levels. Because of too much water, it tends to cover some parts of the land. And because of deforestation, land can no longer absorb water, also results to flooding and erosion. Going to industrial areas, cars and factories are main source of CO2. These human activities produce a lot of CO2, keeping those gases inside our Earth and making the world even hotter. (International Maritime Organization, 2002)

The greenhouse gases emissions have greatly contributed to global warming and still continue to be ...
