Sociology deals with the problems and issues that lie within a society, it is essential to address these issues instantaneously to ensure development. A growing concern in today's society is the issue of gender discrimination (Fox & Lituchy, 2012). This problem has become an international and global phenomenon. It is essential to critically analyze the aspect of gender discrimination in society. Female stereotyping is experienced widely, where women are considered to be domesticated and incapable of meeting workplace requirements (Grohol, 2009).
The society is considered as a male dominated society, and women are considered to be inferior to men. Female are considered as weaker vessel of the society. It is important for organizations to maintain equality at workplace, each employee of the company should be provided with equal opportunity for growth and development, it is necessary to understand the need for rewarding and promoting females at higher levels along with men (Gregory, 2002). Although it is essential to treat employee equally, however employees are not hired or promoted to senior levels based on their gender. As highlighted under U.S. law Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 it is prohibited to discriminate employees on the basis of gender (Grohol, 2009). The importance of analyzing the issue of gender discrimination in the workplace can be examined as U.S. law does not permit organizations to discriminate with employees on the basis of gender (Gregory, 2002).
