Futures Trading

At present, futures trading are permitted in 103 commodities. Apart from three national level Exchanges, there are 21 other regional Exchanges recognized for commodity futures trading. Trading volume and value in past two years have increased manifold.

During 2005-06, total value of commodity futures trade was dollar 21.34 billion as compared to Dollar. 5.71 billion During 2004-05 showing an increase of 274 percent. Volume of trade has also gone up to 6685 million tonnes during 2005-06 as compared to 1942 million tonnes during 2004-05. Trade volume has also gone up by 244 percent during 2005-2006.
