Fuel Injection

Introduction

Fuel injection is a system which is used to admit fuel into an internal combustion engine. It is now considered as a primary fuel delivery system utilized in automotive engines by replacing carburetors during the 1980s and 1990s. There are a number of injection systems present since the earliest usage of the internal combustion engine.

There is a basic difference between fuel injection and carburetors is that the fuel is atomized by the by the fuel injection by forcibly pumping it under high pressure through a small nozzle, while a carburetor is relied on suction made by intake air accelerated through a Venturi tube in order to draw the fuel into the airstream.

Modern fuel injection systems are specifically designed according to the type of fuel being used. There are various systems that are designed for multiple grades of fuel by using sensors to adjust the tuning for the fuel which is currently used). Most fuel injection systems are for diesel or gasoline applications.

In the near future flexible high pressure fuel injection systems will be made compulsory with rate shaping abilities and several injection as well as maximum injection pressure by 2000 bar. Higher efficiency of fuel injection system is necessarily required in order to achieve the target of lower fuel consumption. The major elements for the development of fuel injection are advanced engineering products such as nozzle design including the vario nozzle and k-facto, and the actuators.

The average pressure rose to 2000 bar as the pressure was 800 bar in the past years. In every point of engine map injections, injection timing and injection has made feasible with the implementation of flexible diesel injection system. This will help in achieving a better settlement between the emission exchange and fuel consumption.

Research Question

The research question for this research is related to the recent developments in the designing of high pressure Gasoline Fuel Injection Systems.

Methodology

In order to carry out this research, secondary research method is used. The data used in this research is basically collected by someone else probably for some other purpose. The data used in this research was not actually collected to answer the researcher's specific research question; instead it was collected for some other purpose. This data can be a primary data set to one researcher and a secondary data set to another researcher.
