Role of Media in the Life of Americans

Since people are of the belief that social media sites such as Facebook, Google Plus, LinkedIn, and various online social websites make temporary or virtual buddies. Here, I am of the belief that friends formed through social websites are not the real friends, infact they are the ones who just came there first. However, another belief is that, people makes other people friends just to let other people know that even they belong to the same trendy social media group. Since the popularity, of following people is growing day the day, as well as following or liking the newcomer on the block this is the only way left to be in demand or make more friends. However, people are also of the opinion that they like specific food or even music just to show them that they too are trendy also to become a part of the group or society.

From a psychological perspective when we see these adds they have a huge impact on our lives. For example, any retail outlet ads come on TV the presentation of food is very tempting, due to which we go for that product. Similarly, the images shown on the electronic media also have an effect on children as they can serve as a bad influence for them. Media also provides information sharing as a way to empower Americans to understand their rights and liberties. The media has made it possible that the people of American have a greater influence on how they want themselves to make friends. Media plays a prominent role in the lives of Americans that many see it as an opportunity to leverage and seek economic opportunities in Latin America. The media is the main source of information and entertainment allowing people to be interactive and make friends. In fact, on average, Americans are busy people and entertainment can improve their lives, especially when it comes to reducing stress levels. Without proper guidance, professionals in the media cannot be held liable for the obligations and responsibilities (Christine, 2008, pp: 20).

Therefore, a code of conduct should be created to ensure that the values of media professionals agree with the expectations of U.S. media. The professional of the media is supposed to be fair and indiscriminate. Equally important is the need for professionals in the media to respect the privacy of every American citizen and not to violate the privacy of individuals. In conclusion, the media plays a prominent role in the daily lives of Americans and if not, for the American media would not be the dominant nation it is today (Brandtzæg, 2010, pp: 1020).
