Frankenstein

Frankenstein is one of the master pieces of Mary Shelly and is also famous as “The modern Prometheus”. This novel was written by Shelley when she was just 18 years of age. At the age of eighteen she started writing it and the novel was published when she was twenty one years of age. There are number of elements of Gothic novel which can be observed in the novel and apart from that, the novel exhibits romanticism and is also considered to be one of the earliest examples of science fiction (Sinatra, 121). The story is partially based on Giovanni Aldini's electrical experiments on dead and (sometimes) living animals.

The story begins with a series of letters sent by Captain Robert Walton to his sister Margaret in England where the situation tells his fortunes and misfortunes at sea and poignant story of his new friend and guest Victor Frankenstein.

Victor has been one the main character's in the novel. Captain Walton's continue to tell the story after Victor's lengthy narrative. The novel ends with Frankenstein death and the founding of a monster on the Walton's ship.

The name of the novel; Frankenstein, is often used to refer the monster which is not true. There are several other and distinctive words used in the novel to identify monsters. These words include, "creature," "monster", "fiend", "wretch", "vile insect", "daemon", and "it"; The monster refers to himself speaking to Dr. Frankenstein as "the Adam of your labors", and elsewhere as someone who "would have" been "your Adam", but is instead your "fallen angel."
