Introduction

The purpose behind this essay is to examine and analyze a chosen film clip in order to assess the role of music in the clip setting and the role of sound as it interacts with the film's visual track. For this purpose we have selected the music clip of Forrest Gump- Run across America. After watching the clip several times, we observe, analyze and reflect upon the contents of the clip in terms of its music to analyze the significant role of music in reinforcing the contents and theme of the clip.

Observation

Forrest Gump is represented as one of the most inspirational film characters of all time. This inspiring movie is based on many valuable lessons that accrete a long-lasting impression upon the viewer and leads him to think differently about life itself. In the observed clip, we found out that a gardener (played by tom Hanks) from Alabama keeps on running across America non-stop. During this discourse different media men approached him to seek the reason behind this run and even many people joined him on the way. While he runs, the filmmakers give us the lesson behind the run, which was that if you want to leave the past behind you, you have to forget about it in order to move ahead in future. The role of the music in the clip is continually reinforcing the spirits of the person who is running and moves the viewers into different phases of thinking as he runs about America. The movie does not tell us definitively how many times Forrest crossed America.
