Description of the Case

The ethical issue presented in this case is about dealing with an emotionally unstable co-worker or partner. In order to devise a viable solution to the ethical issue, it is important to understand the case fully (Fuller, 2009). It is important to note that in the professional work environment, a lot of things do not happen the way a person would want them to happen and there are many instances when the person has to deal with problems even though they are not their own, but it becomes vital for them to sort out the issues since their work is related to the person who is having issues or problems. Such seems to be the situation in this case. As the case describes, when the female police officer finds out she is paired with one of the most respected, talented and popular police officers, she is extremely thrilled and exciting to begin her job after a long duration of extensive training at the police academy. If I was in her place, I would have been very excited and careful about what I do on my job, since it would be my first task and I would be very keen to perform well in it. The police force is a type of job where the co-operation and mutual understanding of all the police officers involved plays an integral role, as the police solves cases as a team and therefore if all the officers do not develop understanding with each other, it would become extremely difficult for them to embark on critical missions as a team and emerge successfully at the end of police force operations. I would have found it very pleasing that I was getting more authority for doing my job since that means that I would be able to exercise my power in the right way and it would make me confident by letting me know that I can make decisions for the team and my partner trusts me with the decisions. At this time, when I notice something is wrong with my police partner's behavior, it would make me highly concerned since I care not only about myself but I also respect him and I care about working with mutual trust.

Finding out that my partner is chronically depressed when he told me grieved and shocked me to an ...
