Flood Methodology

Introduction

The purpose of this study is to expand the boundaries of our knowledge by exploring some relevant information relating to the analysis of hypothesis development. In this paper, the author will examine the Meyer's research paper i.e. Comparative Analysis between Different Flood Assessment Technologies in HAZUS-MH, to develop a hypothesis that will help to explore a relationship of the correlation of the flood model predictions to actual flood damage.

Hypothesis Development

In this research paper, Meyer (2004) has examined the situation of natural disasters in United States. The author has specifically focused on the flood disaster. In order to estimate the economic loss that takes place due to floods, a software HAZUS-MH is developed to do the needful. This software helps in capturing the economic loss before the occurrence of flood disaster. As a part of our assignment, we will develop hypothesis and research questions based on the research conducted by Meyer (2004).

In order to develop hypothesis, we will first develop research questions. These research questions will hopefully guide us to articulate logical hypothesis for the research conducted by Meyer.

Following are the list of research questions:

To evaluate the economic impact of natural disasters in United States in the last 30 years

To assess the effectiveness of software HAZUS-MH in estimating economic loss

To examine the economic loss occurred due to flood disaster in United States

To incorporate growth and development information into flood loss estimation methodologies (Meyer, 2004).

The research is based on secondary data accumulation. The data is pressed out from various journals, articles and books. Secondary research depicts information assembled by literature, broadcast media, publications, and other non-human origins.
