Introduction

Fire technology is linked to the fire hazards and urgent situations faced by humans and the environment. Fire technology is basically a peer reviewed academic journal scientific research, which provides a positive contribution in terms of both empirical and theoretical concepts and facilitates for the solutions of the problems in several fields related to fire safety. All the research work is done with the association of National Fire Protection Association. There were an estimated 1.6 million fires in 2007 according to the National Center for Health Statistics Mortality Data, Tennessee is ranked 5th in the United States in fire death rate.

The topic that I have selected is fire protection system and equipments and my research will be carried on this topic. Fire Protection systems are very important for any constructed building, because these can be very helpful in detecting the developing fire. Safety is the first priority for any occupancy, so for the safety of property and lives, it is necessary to install different fire protection systems. Different equipments and systems have been innovated in the field of fire protection system.

Fire Protection Systems & Equipments

Fire protection systems are the equipments and systems installed to protect the building occupants and to suppress the fire (Jones, 2008). The basic concept of fire behavior is essential for the design personal to select the appropriate fire protection systems so as to deal with fire hazards it will protect against. Fire Protection system are the engineered systems that are made for the specific type of fire and size of hazard. These protection systems are very important for any occupancy and are very helpful in any emergency situation of fire. To go in the depth of fire protection system, it is necessary to be familiar with the basic terms (Jones, 2008).

Hazard

A hazard is something that has the tendency to cause harm or injury to us or any other object. There are different kinds of hazards and different sources of hazards (GRWC, 2013).

Fire

Fire is the process of combustion. It is a chemical reaction of oxygen and fuel. It is clear that fire needs three basic things to thrive and spread. To finish fire any one of the component should be controlled. This is also called fire triangle (CSIRO, 2011). Fire triangle is shown below: (Jones, 2008)

Fire Extinguishers

Fire Extinguishers are the equipments that are used to suppress the developing fire. These can be very helpful in emergency conditions. It can help in finishing small fires. Generally there are two types of fire extinguishers that are portable and non portable fire extinguishers. Portable fire extinguishers can be moved and are not fixed and are of low weight whereas non portable fire extinguishers cannot be moved and these are fixed. These are fitted in certain spaces (ETSU, 2013).
