Fire Code Compliance

Abstract

The core problem that Collier County is facing is increased rate of non-compliance of fire codes in their proposed plan of architectural structures. The aim of this paper was to explore reasons because of which the rate of non-compliance of fire code is increasing. To obtain the answer of this question this descriptive research was performed.

With the help of descriptive study this research paper attempted to get the answer of the research question. Literature review of this research paper provides a historical background of development of fire codes in United States of America. This part of the research paper also reveals different institutes and their effort towards development of codes of fire.

In order to obtain the answer of the research questions number of interviews were conducted from architects, fire marshals and fire inspectors. The results of these interviews point out two basic reasons for the increased rate of non compliance of fire codes in County Collier's new architectural plans.

These two reasons that are major factors behind increased rate of non compliance of fire codes in County Collier are as follows:

Lack of skills and competencies of architects, engineers, fire inspectors and fire marshals.

Lack of availability of funds

This research paper focused on only first reason that is increasing rate of non compliance in County collier. In the end this research paper recommended various ways in which skills and competencies of architects and engineer can be improved by providing some extra classes and training.

Improving Fire Code Compliance through Additional Education Classes

Introduction

It is the privilege and basic right of every individual living in this world to live a happy, healthy and safe life. In order to fulfill this objective there are certain measures that most of the people take. One such measure is of availability of well designed and safe infrastructure dwelling. Safety is one of the core concerns for most of the people. Considering this safety factor, first thing that comes to mind is of susceptibility of fire burning. Many apartments, housing societies and construction companies consider this element of fire burning and take measures while designing the architectural plan to prevent this element. Not only this, but this element is so significant that even United States Fire Administration has devised proper laws and codes for the prevention of this issue.

The vital objective of this research paper also revolves around the same issue. The paper deals with fire code compliance issue. This paper is an attempt to explore compliance to the codes of fire by Collier County in their proposal of new plan of architecture.
