Introduction

This assignment is based on a family health assessment conducted on Mr. John's family. Mr. John's family belongs to the white Americans group, with English as their mother tongue, and they are modern Christians who visit the church every Sunday. The family status with two kids that are living in boarding schools and commonly on the weekend, while the son lives with parents and is in high school. These wage earners of the family are a father who worked as a welder in his workshop, mother (Mrs. John) who works in a restaurant as a waitress, the oldest daughter (AN) who works in a beauty salon, the second daughter (UM) whom baby sits three kids from Monday to Friday after her classes and the son who give tuitions to a kid of 2nd standard from Saturday to Friday. He loves partying late and eats a lot of junk food. KA is suffering from obesity and gets little time for family meetings. The family states that KA is young, and it is natural to gain weight and party late every other night. This family is earning and financially a stable one. The daughter who left home for universities comes to meet their parents on every weekend. The family holds a family dinner every Sunday and all the members attend it most of the times. However, they do not talk to each other for the rest of the week as they are busy in their jobs.

Mr. John lost his job three months ago due to an accident in the workshop. The workshop was set on fire, and he is still jobless. He now, sometimes skips the family dinners and does not remain very happy. He is in a serious mood most of the times and has started drinking. On questioning, it is revealed that Mr. John donated his kidney to his dying aunt when he was young. He has suffered from various kidney and liver problems. He was an alcoholic when he was young. However, rehabilitation and treatment worked in the past. The family is having problems handling his newly developed a love for alcohol. The father, drunk, fought with his daughter and her boyfriend, to whom she is going to get married after her graduation, which is due after 2 months. The angry daughter did not attend the next family dinner. Mrs. John is worried, but she did not talk to her husband because she as scared of his continuous bad mood.

On assessment, it was found that the family holds the history of cardiac diseases in ancestors, with a grandmother who died of a heart attack. The grand father is a diabetic. A family health assessment was done to evaluate the family's physical and mental well being. This assignment incorporates Friedman assessment model to assess the family and works on the nurse made interventions achieve the health under the national health objectives of Healthy People 2010.
