Abstract

The purpose of this assignment is to discuss the Fatigue in Industrial Health and Safety. Furthermore, the paper will highlight the significance of occupational/industrial safety management in my workplace which is Hest Pty Ltd. In this case, the incidence took place when Hest Pty Ltd Company was constructing units in a city. Some of its employees are exposed to the hazards of falls from height, due to the absence of scaffoldings. The company did not provide adequate protection at the floor balcony. Similarly, I will discuss the regulatory implications of not following the regulatory or recommended safety improvements at my workplace. The key purpose of this process is to draft guidelines for the organization regarding Occupational Health and Safety Management System. Many firms have attempted Occupational Health and Safety “reviews” or “audits” to measure the methods of Occupational Health and Safety performance on their own. However, “audits” are considered adequate to provide the guidelines for OHSMS, because it examines processes for health and safety in a systematic manner in accordance with the defined principles and rules of the company. To be productive, they require to be undertaken inside an organized administration scheme that is incorporated inside the organization. There are a number of methods that can be used for measurement in the occupational health and safety management systems. These methods are inspection, testing, monitoring, auditing, performance measures, and records for demonstrating compliance and hazard, incident and accident reports.

Effective management of occupational safety and health at work is a key factor in the sustained success of companies. It is important that the senior management team has also sought to demonstrate an effective leadership in safety and health, and that these issues were integrated with other tasks and responsibilities. The effective management for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all workers is through minimizing risks, and to provide protection against accidents and diseases resulting from their work.

In this case, the incidence took place when Hest Pty Ltd Company was constructing units in a city. Some of its employees are exposed to the hazards of falls from height, due to the absence of scaffoldings. The company did not provide adequate protection at the floor balcony. There is an absence of handrail to the internal stairs and the lack of edge protection around the stair landing portion of the first floor slab. The employees of the organization were instructed not to work in this particular area to protect any incidence; however the employees failed to obey the command of the supervisor.

The process aims to classify the responsibilities, roles, and duties of employers so that an immediate and effective incident/accident reporting and investigation process can be put in place.
