Introduction

This essay is based on Fast Food Consumption and Obesity. Fast food refers to food that can be served and consumed very speedily. Though, the term is typically used to prepare food sold in chain restaurants. The word fast food enunciated first in 1951 in Webster dictionary. Fast foods are easy to eat and save a lot of time in this busy life, but it also have bad impacts on the strength of a person eating fast food on a regular basis. American nation is facing national crises because of fast food and obesity. Fast food is the one of the most prominent reasons of obesity in Australia, United States of America and United Kingdom. In western America, about 59% populations are obese or over weight in the city, in contrast 72% in the other regions.

In the year 2007, approximately 17 thousand fast food restaurants served nearly 1.64 billion take away meals or different fast food. The trend of eating out of the home is increasing in America and mostly people do not prefer eating at home. Eating fast foods that include more of these fats, proteins and carbohydrates disturbs the digestive system of a person, and as a result, people have an accurate problem of blood pressure, lethargic and heart problem often. People who preferred fast food continuously has lost their body shaped and cause many diseases (Schlosser, pp. 25).

Discussion and Analysis

Obesity is a chronic disease with a strong tendency for familial occurrence that enhance environmental factors such as lack of physical activity combined with high calorie diet and cheap food of poor quality. The currently observed increase in the prevalence of obesity is too violent that it can be attributed solely to genetic factors. Junk food is a way of referring to inadequate food for its nutritional value, not because it contains nutrients, but because it presents an unbalanced way to get good nutrition. Junk food called as Fast Food contains high fat, salt, spices or sugar and numerous food additives such as monosodium glutamate and tartrazine which are potentially harmful to health. High consumption of fast food consumption lead to obesity, heart disease, type II diabetes and tooth decay (Niemeier et.al, pp. 842).

Obesity is a disease characterized by an increase in body fat, which is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Factors associated with the development of obesity are genetic factors, poor diet and physical inactivity. The prevalence of obesity in children and adults has increased by 50% in the last 10 years so that the World Health Organization (WHO) has made obesity epidemic as a real disease.

Most of the restaurants or fast food outlets use processed food, which is the cause of food poison and increase fatty acid in the body.
