As this essay report is about some famous folk singer of America, so in this paper the folk singer has been chosen is 'Paul Clayton'. His real name was Paul Clayton Worthington and was born on March 3rd, 1931 and his death was occurred in March 30th, 1967. He was a famous American folklorist and folksinger and was very famous between the time periods 1950s to 1960s for the revival of folk music. He was a graduated of the University of Virginia and he earned a degree of masters in Falklore. Clayton was specialized in the old and traditional types of music, first and foremost sea shanties, ballads, Appalachian, and New England songs. He became highly concerned in the folk music firstly when he was youngster and then stated to play guitar when he was in his teen age.

When he was in his college, then he extended his interests and did the inclusion of the Virginia's as well as the music of surrounding states. Just in a shorter time period after the completion of his college, he initiated his recordings. His very first releases were regarding a little specialty recording company. Later on in the year 1956, he attached with the Folkways Records, which was the leading label of the folk music of that days. He recorded 6 different albums of solo music with Folkways from the period 1956 to 1958 and issued then folk music albums for several distinctive labels of music and then switched to some other famous folk label music with Elektra Records and then worked in coordination of several music artists like Dave Ronk and Jean Ritchie on many folk music releases. He recorded his last album in the year 1965.

Clayton emerged as a famous personality in the folk scene of the Greenwich Village during the start of 1960s is in the NY City. He was very intimate with several music artists like Liam Clancy, and Dave Ronk and also Bob Dylan who was his friend as well as mentor in the starting years of the career of Dylan.
