Introduction

Structural theory of family functioning whose main exponent is Minuchin (1977) refers to the family as a system that has a dynamics given by the members who compose and interaction patterns that are repeated, the dynamics gives way to the organization.

The dynamics of the family system is relatively fixed and stable to help the family in carrying out tasks, to protect the external environment and making sense of belonging to their members. But in turn, must be able to adapt to the stages of evolutionary development and the diverse needs of life facilitating family development and processes of individuation. The family system also differentiates and carries out its functions through their subsystems, each of which has roles, functions and tasks. The main subsystems are married (husband and wife), parent (parents), sibling (brothers) and subsidiary (children). Another central dimension of family dynamics are the rules that guide the family, the internal regulatory mechanism consists of explicit and implicit rules. Explicit rules correspond to what is usually called standards are consciously negotiated agreements, for example, meal times. By contrast, the implicit rules are that frame of reference for the acts of each individual, communicative position relative to each other and the type of relationships they have, here we could mention, for example, we all know to be be loyal and keep a family secret.

The family is the social unit, and the considered as a social organization primary is characterized by ties, and emotional relationships that occur within it, constituting a subsystem of social organization. The members of the family group meeting roles and functions within this, functions and roles that are the allow comparison with other systems external, such as the neighborhood, work, school, etc. Any family or extended family is relates to other systems with which must interact, affecting the dynamics negatively or positively. In this sense, we consider the family as an integrative system multigenerational characterized by several sub- internal functioning, and influenced by a variety of external systems related (Nichols & Everett, 1986).

Structural Theory Family functioning

The structural model is defined as "the set invisible of demands organized functional ways interacting members of a family "(Minuchin, 1977), these guidelines establish how, when and with whom each member of the family is related, regulating the conduct of their members.

The family dynamics should be relatively fixed and stable power support the family in their tasks and functions, protecting the forces external and giving a sense of belonging to its members, but same time must accept a degree of flexibility to accommodate various requirements of the situations of life and different stages of development by evolving the family, which facilitates the development family and individuation processes. The family system is different in subsystems and to perform his functions, these subsystems are not absolute, and also overlap come into operation according to the family time with their roles, functions and specific tasks, the main ones are the subsystem marital and parental ...
