Abstract

The origin of family is an interesting debate as there is no consensus about the originating family roots of individuals. Researchers believe that time is a great factor that has been affecting the structure of family , roles of its members and its legal as well as social status in any society. This paper aims to understand the concept of family and discuss the origin of family.

Introduction

This is a reality that no one is sure about the origin of his or her family as there has been a regular and continuous transformation in the family system and its structure since the day one of one's family. In fact, the evidence of family comes from physical life on this earth and social behavior that was integrated with the family legacy system (Hoffman & Carmack, 2011). Before we investigate the origin of family, it is essential to build basic understanding with its concept. The family can be seen as a fundamental structure of our society and is defined as an organization that is governed by rules depending on the type and culture of the family. It is also important to know that every family differs from the other in terms of its legacy, psychology, culture and response to society (Engels & Hunt, 2010).

In addition, it can be seen in any family structure that head of the family or parents are responsible to take hard tasks and cope with the difficulties that a family face. In other words, family permissive differs from the others in terms of roles and responsibilities as there are some parents who do not want to fall into authoritarianism. In fact, anthropologists and sociologists have developed several theories about the evolution of family structures and functions. According to them, a family is an economic unit where the men hunt, while women gather and prepare food and take care of the children (Engels & Hunt, 2010). However, research also shows that transformation of family system is obvious on the scale of history with the passage of time. Another interesting thing to point out is that definition of family is also affected by the transformation process as union of same sexes is also recognized as marriage or family in some western societies.

Family

The family is defined as a natural and fundamental group or unit of society that is entitled to protection by society and the State. It is important to discuss that a family is usually recognized by the ties of affinity derived from the establishment of a connection of two people. This social connection is recognized as the marriage, which allows the union between two people with the bonds of kinship (Hoffman & Carmack, 2011).
