Introduction

The concept of the family institution has been an integral part of the global society, over an extended period of time. The concept of a formal union of a male and female, who play a parental role in the lives of the eventual offspring, has caused the global human society to progress and over several generations form a complex form of social order (Stierlin, 1973). Due to the significance of the concept of marriage in the current global society and the emergence of this phenomenon in various global cultures, several family myths have been developed. These myths do not have a objective basis, rather they are formed by the biased and subjective ideologies. In the context of the civilized global societies, the majority of the myths have to be adequately tackled by rational thinking.

Due to the substantial influence of the concept of marriage in the context of the contemporary global social environment, different societies in the world have developed diversified views regarding the phenomenon. Not ever y social group or global society has the same standardized opinions regarding the concept of marriage, and in this scenario the conceptual disagreements between certain groups of people have led to the development of family related myths. The source of these myths is not always based on scientific fact or credible research, as majority of the myths are formed by the cultural misconceptions and the biased and segregated perspective of a given segment of the society.
