Introduction

The following paper is based on parenting styles that adopted by parents to up-bring their child and how caregivers involved in the development. This is a personal reflection; therefore, the incidents or the evidence shared is based on personal experiences in the light of major theories and concepts of social and physical development during middle childhood.

Discussion

The research stated that parenting is one of the most challenging task yet rewarding experience. In this regard, Baurmind work is exception because she studied different parenting style during 1960's and based on the research concluded that parents are different in four different areas; discipline strategy, parents' nurturance\warmth, expectations of maturity and communication skills.

The parenting style that adopted by my parents was Authoritative because the parents were high on warmth with moderate discipline; similarly the communication was high with a comparative moderate expectations of maturity. The best part of the parenting style in upbringing was that issue oriented strategies were used in order to promote autonomy while ensuring autonomy conformity. Parents provide different alternatives and also encouraged me to take decisions and made me responsible for the actions and decision related to those actions (Gurian, n.d.). Resulting this, the end result was the self empowerment, where opinions were respected and valued, which was very much beneficial for both of us, me and my parents.

With the passage of time, I started to realize that being an adjusted child, especially in relation to social competence, the parents who are more inclined towards authoritative parenting style bring balance to life because they know how to cater high demands of child with emotional responsiveness, also by respecting child's autonomy.
