Introduction

This piece of writing documents a scholastic appraisal of the following research articles: Prevention of Falls in Residential Aged Care by Dr John Ward, Ms Mandy Harden and Mr Richard Gibson and “Falls and Their Prevention in Elderly People: What Does the Evidence Show?” by Laurence Z. Rubenstein and Karen R. Josephson.

My critique and evaluation of the two articles is a direct analysis of the studies in both the articles and is footed on my perceptive of these types of studies from my interests in Education. My aim is to develop a logical and systematic argument footed on the level to which these researches exemplify the characteristics.

Section 1

Prevention of Falls in Residential Aged Care

The article addresses the issue of falls in old aged patients and injuries resulting from it. Falls leading to hip fractures is a significant community health problem. Approximately one third of these falls for the people over sixty five yrs take place among inhabitants of residential elder people health care facilities , with around one third people in hostels and two third people in nursing homes in the course of the injury. A ten per cent decrease in the tempo of falls will lead to significant medical-services financial savings, regardless the decrease in the load of sickness associated with getting older for people and their family members. The research method used in article is designed to analyze the conjecture that a project executive functioning with domestic elder people care resources to assist ideal practice approaches for falls accidental injuries prevention might substantially minimize the number of hip fractures. This is the basic research question that this paper focuses on.

I propose that the dimension of the models of studies selected for the experiment make the investigation superficially acceptable, however, significantly tumbling widespread aptitude to the eventual implication and application of the results obtained on present population. The author has used the amalgamation of quantitative and qualitative research methods to carry out the research. Two setups within the house-care setups are designed, one with the institution of interventions to prevent the fall while other without the interventions to act as a control.

The method is best suitable for directing the outcome of the applied research strategy as the amalgamation of these two research methodologies gives a profound understanding of the insights involving the consequences and strategic assessment (Conway, 2006, pp 22).

In the end the article presents us with comprehensive conclusion based on the exploration of findings and its interrelation with the theories. The language of the conclusion is clear and easily understandable. After the application of interventions to prevent the falls the outcomes were measure in two areas. The first area assessed if the interventions succeeded in reducing the falls rate. Here the setup with intervention is compared with control setup to gain insights. Data for instance monthly number of falls, injuries in falls, fractures (any), fractures (hip) and death are compared with ...
