Philosophy is not about two vintage men seated round the fireplace considering the meaning of life. Unfortunately, that is the kind of mental image most persons have of the discipline. It is usually glimpsed as having little attachment to real life, and certain thing you might enlist in if you had not anything better to do with your time. The poorest myth about beliefs is the conviction that it is a subject for the thoughtful elite, with no relevance to the widespread man.
