Plato's task in the Republic is to pattern the "perfect" society. "Reason allows us to reside for something." Through reason we set goals and coordinate our lives round accomplishing goals. Plato argues that the government's obligation to citizens is to supply justice, and teach citizens both men and women. The state's social structure stood for justice and was split up into three groups. Rulers- those taught to use reason and posses wisdom. Guardians/ fighters have courage/spirit. Artisans have moderation of appetites. Plato's perfect leader, the "Philosopher King," should be 50 years vintage with 15 years of government know-how and should have studied science and philosophy.

Plato recounts five types of government in the Republic:

Aristocracy- Plato considered this the best pattern of government; aristocracy embodies wisdom of the philosopher king.

Democracy- infantry government embodies virtues of respect and courage.

Oligarchy- directs by wealthy elite, their vice is greed, the wealthy get more affluent, and the poor get poorer.

Democracy- mob direct, and chaos, it represents akrasia persons are slaves of their desires and have little self-control.

Tyranny- this is the worst pattern of government. The vice is selfishness, one power crazed individual in control.

Plato's purpose in the Republic is not to flawless the feature of persons as an end but only as a means to an end. Plato's objective has a decisive result on his delineation of courage. I find this is especially the case when discovering his ideas on how to teach the Guardians of the town to proceed courageously. Plato's aim is to agree a person's feature disposition to a job they are routinely inclined to present in the city.
