Explaining Deviance and Crime

Warren (2003) opines that deviance as behavioral departure from the norms of a particular social group. Depending upon the nature of the deviance by an individual can result in disastrous personal and social consequences for them. Conversely, in broader context, deviance and crime are considered as portrayal of behaviors that are against the acceptable norms of the society. This leads to the critical understanding about the other possible sociological explanations associated with deviance and crime. Similarly, this paper aims to discuss the symbolic interactionist's sociological explanation of crime and deviance.
