Abstract

Experiential learning is a highly effective technique of education. IT pits the user in circumstances or problems that they may encounter in daily lives and helps develop the skills or attitude required to deal with the issues. The author reflects on the learning and thoughts gained during the monetary expenditure-observation assignment. The author tends to analyze the motivation and the factors influencing the thought process behind the actions and draws a reasonable conclusion.

Introduction

Experiential learning is the process of learning and educating oneself from direct experience. Experiential Learning is, simply put, learning from experience. Aristotle rightly says that to learn the things which we have to perform before doing them, we learn by actually doing them.

Experiential learning can be a highly effective educational method. It absorbs the learner at a personal level by tackling the wants and needs of the individual. Knowledge is regularly acquired through both environmental and personal events, says (David A. Kolb), who is an educational theorist.

The afore-mentioned items all a purpose in the author's daily routine. The items meet the sanitary, nutrition and clothing apparel needs of the author. The motivation and school of thought behind the purchase of these items ranges from personal preference to media advertising.

GILLETTE and SPEEDO products

The author purchased the Gillette razor on account of sanitary need. The particular brand was bought on the reasoning that Gillette produces fine razors and is also endorsed by Roger Federer, a tennis legend.

The author purchased the Speedo brand briefs since they are quite comfortable and good value for money.

NIKE-LIVESTRONG products

The author chose NIKE LIVESTRONG items of a Tee-shirt which the author required for clothing purpose. However, the LIVESTRONG wristbands were purchased as an extra accessory by the author. The author felt that by using LIVESTRONG products, he would be projecting a positive image and subliminally conveying the message of courage and determination since the LIVESTRONG brand is endorsed by Lance Armstrong who successfully was able to fight cancer and is a Tour de France legend.

PUMA Running Shoes

The author needed a new a pair of running-casual shoes and opted for PUMA running shoes for this purpose. This purchase was motivated by the fact that Usain Bolt, the fastest man on earth, uses the sportswear as well.
