Introduction

Evidence based practice (EBP) in nursing involves setting a problem, investigation and critical evaluation of available evidence, the implementation of these in practice and appreciation of the results through the integration of three elements: the best evidence, the clinical skills and patient preference (APA, 2005).

The best evidence comes from research that is clinically relevant, patient-focused to improvement of diagnostic measures, indicators prognosis and treatment, rehabilitation and prevention.
