CHAPTER NO. 1: INTRODUCTION

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a vital constituent of the development of nursing science and has significance for clinical nurses these days. It does well to the nursing discipline, patients, and organizations, in addition to having personal and professional gains for individual clinicians (Strout et. al., 2009).

Rationale

In the study questionnaire is used, as the registered nurses are familiar with questionnaires and they are not very time consuming, they are cheap and do not interfere with patient care. Moreover, it is important to follow the prescribed procedures for contact isolation patients in an acute care hospital. The role of nurses' plays a vital role in curbing the spread of the disease among the patients. In our study, we would discuss the patients carrying 'MRSA' in contact isolation. We would also highlight the role of nurses in the isolation units. The present study is of vital importance because the prescribed procedures need to be followed when dealing with patients in contact isolation. The acuity of the patients who are not in isolation is quite similar to those in isolation and hence has a higher risk of contracting the disease.

CHAPTER NO. 2: LITERATURE REVIEW

Description of Search Method

The Databases used were within the Grand Canyon Library like CINAHL and Cochrane Databases. Moreover, I also used MEDLINE through PubMed. The keywords I utilized for the purpose of searching relevant data includes MRSA, contact isolation, nursing compliance with isolation procedures, isolation procedures on the hospital unit, infection control on the hospital unit, Isolation of Paitients, spread of MRSA in the hospital, preventing the spread of MRSA in the hospital and nurse-patient ratios. After searching various libraries for the relevant data, I selected articles which were explicitly related to my topic of research.

Various studies were fitting the criteria of my research. I adopted the method for inclusion which relates to being most current and recent literature. I believe there is no point of using outdated data for the purpose of significant researches. Moreover, the researchers were excluded on the basis of their non reliable sources and irrelevant material.

Summarizing Research Studies

The first article selected for the research is qualitative. The purpose of the study was not stated clearly in the article. However, the purpose of the study in my opinion was to identify different variables that relate to the health factors of an individual within the context of United States. The criticism on health policy was also provided which served the purpose of creating a base for new and improved health policy ...
