In order to provide the patients with optimal relief from postoperative pain, nursing practice must consider best possible evidence which is available. For the period of over 20 years, study's results related to use of evidence based practice by nurses including practices of postoperative pain evaluation show that nurses are using these evidence based practice inconsistently. There are majority of nurses who are familiar with the evidence based practice but they are not using it. All the registered nurses must be persuaded to utilize several sources in order to recognize the research's application to education. In order to prevent the postoperative pain, nurses must adopt evidence based practices for overcoming the pain of the patient after surgery (Kehlet, 2008).

Health and medical care is amongst the most active human disciplines. Today, huge amount of money is being spent on sophisticated and high quality research annually. These researches are increasing the literature of health care exponentially. Consistently, more effective and new medical devices, procedures and medicines are being developed by the health care professionals. However, the practices of nurses in providing effective care to the patients are playing an inevitable role in improving the system of health and medical care. These efforts are being made by the health care professionals so as to assist nurses, medical technicians and doctors in providing best possible treatment and care to their patients. Nurses are being encouraged to use their evidence based practices while providing care to their patients (Kehlet, 2008). Moreover, with the use of well established and traditional practices and procedures, practitioners of health care are adopting pioneering interventions which incorporate solid research based evidence and best practices. The technique of evidence based practice is rapidly gaining fame because of its capability of providing better care to patients and effectively handling clinical issues.
