Practical Application of Evidence Based Practice in Nursing
Practical Application of Evidence Based Practice in Nursing
Introduction
The purpose of this study is to expand the boundaries of our knowledge by exploring some relevant facts and figures relating to practical application of evidence based practice in nursing. The evidence-based practice (EBP) is the use of best available scientific research in the care of individual patients. It is used mainly in medicine; and is also known as "Medicine based on proven facts" or "Evidence-based medicine." EBP is a working method appropriate for any care giver who wants to develop research into care and improve their professional practice. To all long, obesity represents one of the most worrying problems of Western societies, and particularly in UK has an alarming character. It is because obesity affects the health of individuals in a direct way. The life and eating habits are the basis for many of the problems of obesity in this country and others, who see obesity gains ground incessantly. It is especially troubling incidence in childhood and adolescence, and that condemns millions of children to become overweight adults, with fatal consequences to their health.
The healthcare authority needs to seriously address this problem, starting with a solid education from infancy in habits of life, who should consider regular exercise and a healthy, and balanced diet, based on the concert of vegetables, fruits and fish. Some habits should also extend to the adult population, and which fall within the responsibility of each individual.
Significance of the Study
The significance of this study is related to the relevance of practical application of evidence based practice in nursing to the provision of healthcare services. Eating behaviour relates to food intake; what kind of food is usually consumed frequency of eating, and style of eating. Assessment of eating behaviour is easier than that of calorie intake, which requires detailed information about food intake, and thus can be a practical tool for dietary intervention. Although it remains unclear whether a specific eating behaviour causes weight gain, there is evidence supporting a role of eating behaviours in the development of overweight. EBP is a practice that integrates science data, expert knowledge and preferences of people treated. It corresponds to the provision of care that have proven most effective for a scientific point of view and for more efficient health system. This practice is not static. It is in constant evolution since being built from the knowledge gained from research. In fact, it allows care givers to move from qualitative research to quantitative research.
Discussion
Evidence based practice
Evidence-based practice (EBP) is based on scientifically collected data or information that are analysed and organized to improve understanding of a given area of practice. The process of evidence-based practice (EBP) involves the pursuit of the answer to a practice based question followed by a critical appraisal of the evidence. The most challenging aspect of EBP is possibly making judgements that draw together the evidence and its application in individual ...
