Evidence Based Health Care Research

Introduction

This paper exhibits about the evidence in the study of general hygiene, and purposefully relates the study with the intention to explore the role of skin damage caused by washing and drying methods and procedures that used in nursing (Turkoglu,1999, pp. 21, 371 - 382). The health system requires that all involved in providing care to the population, should perform certain actions to improve the quality of service and living standards in various fields (Rhein, 2007, pp. 305 - 367). The nursing, internationally working hard to improve the quality of training, assistance, research and nursing management, so as to achieve the patient safety and people wellbeing. The study conducted a comprehensive experiments and consulted experts in this area, to increase knowledge related to patient safety program, and washing and drying techniques. Within the programs of quality assurance, patient safety is not an idiom, not a new focus on health, but professional responsibility implicit in the act of care. Nurses should be prepared with a view of their profession as a scientific discipline, who are more concerned about the fundamental good of humanity and are able to provide appropriate, quality and risk independent care to patients.

Discussion

The hand is the main mode of transmission of microorganisms. A large proportion of infections can be originated on the surfaces. These infections can be reduced by the application of rules of hygiene such as washing and drying hand or using effective disinfection (Ojajarvi, 1980, pp.85:193-203). Hand hygiene requires the knowledge of these methods and their applications, awareness and training teams, the provision of products and equipment responsive (Kownatzki, 2003, pp. 55, 239 - 245).

History of Hand Washing

Hand washing has recognized for over a century as an effective measure to prevent infections. Many outbreaks hospital due to contamination by the hands clearly reflect its importance. It also highlighted that it is important in surgical procedures. Similarly, Joseph Lister A in 1867, and Florence Nightingale 2 in 1863, performed work on asepsis in hospitals. The implementation of a protocol for washing hands or revision is a necessary step in a prevention program (Larson, 1988, pp.9:28-36). Patient safety is a priority strategy of the Nursing, being implicit in the quality plan of care with goals and actions. Scientific societies, academic institutions and research institutions are working closely to find the best clinical practices for safer health care with all the washing and drying techniques (Du Gas, 1983). The main objective of the study is to develop a culture of safety in the care provided and providing better techniques of washing and drying, which is a component of risk management in the healthier life (Abbas, 2004, pp. 17, 35 - 42). As up to date, most efforts to improve patient safety have focused on issues such as reducing medication errors, equipment problems, nosocomial infections, and improved quality in intensive care, but to generalize the success of these efforts requires a culture of security practices throughout the organization ...
