Executive Summary
Evaluating the ERP system of IBM, this was actually customized according to the business and operational requirements of the organisation. The key elements were found to be the successful integration of the business process, operational processes, technological processes and organisation-wide strategies. The implementation of the life cycle of application development including the designing, implementation and evaluation were carried out successfully.
The software, hardware, database systems, processes, management staff are up to the standards of ERP Model. The core participation of the upper management and technical staff played a vital role in successful implementation. The critical issues encountered during the implementation of the ERP system were, Fundamental issues, organisations change process issues, employee morale issues, cost issues and time issues.
These problems were effectively addressed by the management through the use of right decision making strategies and the risks factors that rose due to these issues were coped well. The ERP system implementation on IBM, drive the business globally, faster, and in a more reliable fashion. The ERP system proved to be cost efficient for IBM, as it's a large organisation so heavy investment resulting in an exceptional outcome was not a great challenge for IBM.
