Introduction

European Union (EU) is formed by the integration of some of the European countries on account of political and economic mutual benefits. The EU law which was previously called as European Community law is comprised of law, treaties and the court of judgement. The law acts in conformity with the legislative system of the member countries. All the member countries honour the EU law as superior to the national laws of the respective member countries.



Discussion

The EU law discusses the matters of freedom, basic rights, social and political justice, governing of basic legal principles, competition and criminal law among all the member states of the EU. The European Union law can be divided into three categories.

Primary Law

The Primary law is defined by the treaties. The Paris treaty 1951 and the Rome treaty 1957 are the two basic foundations. Treaties are signed after considerable negotiations among the member countries and approval from the parliaments of the member countries. These treaties encompass the major area of frame work including the authorities that are involved in decision making, nature and number of institutions to be developed in the EU, practices to be developed or incorporated in community law and their implementations and the roles of the member states. The primary law also provides protocol to the Paris treaty and the Rome treaty. The regulations are transformed into law with out passing through the process of implementation, and supersede the national provisions of the member countries of the EU. The EU Court of Justice makes sure the right implementation of the law and highlights any overriding and violation.
