Persuasion is the ability so that you have the proper use of language to an end. This is known as rhetoric. Rhetoric corresponds to three intentions logos, ethos, and pathos. The logos are the logic, reasoning and method of construction of the argument. It is aimed at the rational mind of the listener. The ethos is the style that must take the speaker to capture the attention and gain the trust of the audience, to make it believable and sympathetic. It caters to the imagination of the listener. Aristotle defines the good sense, virtue and benevolence as elements facilitate confidence in the speaker. We can add the frankness and honesty. Pathos addresses the sensitivity of the audience (trends, passions, desires, feelings, emotions). I have always been a debater in my academic life and always believed in using rhetoric in my speech. Owing to this fact, most of the times, I won competitions because I had all necessary components of speech that are essential for a persuasive speech.

Ethos is the most important part when it comes to public speaking. I always tried to blend in all the characteristics of ethos in my speech. These characteristics were trustworthiness, similarity, authority and expertise. During my debate I always used to make sure that I sound trustworthy, that the facts I am giving to my audience are right and truth. I never tried to mould my words unnecessary and that helped me maintain my trustworthiness of my audience. On the other hand I always introduce myself a similar person to my audience.
