Ethos Logos and Pathos in Bissinger's “Innocents Afield” and Sutherland's “What Shamu taught me about a Happy Marriage”

Introduction

To persuade, a speech should appeal to three different dimensions: logos, ethos and pathos. This is a good basis to understand why metaphors are an excellent device for persuasion, and to do one thing in terms of another makes it possible to expand a reader's thought and pleasure of reading a literary work that may have content. In the area of written text or literary text, the opposition between the three elements and discursive pre-discursive is not unrelated to the impacts of genres including biography under "writing itself." But much more critical, as a condition occurs or not, knowledge of other texts by the same author for example. This absolute fact stands for two of the most interesting literary works, namely; "Innocents Afield" by Bissinger and "What Shamu Taught Me about a Happy Marriage" by Amy Sutherland.

Analysis

When you speak or do an article on various ways to compose an argument you will probably encounter an opponent who will say that your methods are obsolete and outdated compared to our time. Often they do not know what they say but if they are really qualified it will give you some of these methods sounding American (or English) that are so new that it has not yet translated. To clarify the idea, we need to create a speech, a story, always part of a need to say something, because without this need ideally to remain silent and that having discovered that need that mean something, or what we mean (Ethos), we then choose the best way to organize the discourse (logos) so that actions (Pathos) generate enough attraction and motivation for our target audience is hooked and can better capture the way our idea, thus closing a perfect cycle of rhetoric. We understand the modern people, the heroes of our time, as people who will discuss and debate (sometimes heated debate!) In search of better solutions, but, on the other hand, finding these solutions, made by a single entity in their implementation, despite differences of opinion and their own interests (Hesford, Brueggemann, 56).

We can determine the nature and structure of society not only by its constitution or social systems, but also its culture, development of science, art, literature, the quality of family and social life (Hesford, Brueggemann, 57).

Adversary has the gift of fun because it means that modern man cannot be compared with those who frequented the shops a few years ago. Modern man would react totally differently to arguments that could last easily convince his father and would thus outdated marketing methods.
