Introduction

In the contemporary era, the global societies have started to incorporate people belonging to different cultural groups and ethnic backgrounds. In today's society the attributes of individuals' such as their ethnicity and racial features are not considered as part of their personalities. Racism and stereotyping has long been a significant throughout the global civilization, and the minorities living in the overall societies have had to suffer due to these forces (Ungar, 2011). . Although ethnicity is a very important aspect of an individual's life, and it highlights the historical roots of the people, it should not be utilized to stereotype a certain group of people and form any sort of preconceived attributes regarding the people belonging to such groups. In the developed contemporary societies the overall society is formed by the amalgamation of the diverse groups of people, regardless of their ethnicities and socio cultural backgrounds. In the American history great leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. have played a vital role in alleviating the various socio ethnic dilemmas that existed in the American society at the given era. The efforts of such leaders highlighted the fact that the diversity among the ethnicity of the people of a given society does not have an impact on the equality and the dynamics of the society.

During my childhood period, I firmly believed that my family predominantly belonged to an African American ethnicity. However I also believed that my family ethnic history also included an Indian influence.
