Design Ethics of Practice - CASE STUDY of Jump Studios

Introduction

Design is an emergent industry with many concerns bordering it. A vital issue relating to design ethics is the environment of the ethical nature of the designer. Ethics in the order of design has fundamentally been expressed around the philosophy of responsibility and virtue (Anjou 2010, p.1).

A job of the designer is growing day by day. Designers work as conversationalist and provide the most vital roles to society. On the other hand, the concept of design is affecting from art to significant business (Prusynski 2003, p.1). In this case study, I will discuss the ethics in Design of Google Campus by Jump Studios. Google Campus provides office area to start-ups, events on the regular basis, networking and mentoring events. Those people have no office in the office can use a cafe and co-working area and free WIFI access (Anon. 2012a). Google Campus is an adequate example of co-working, socializing and nurturing through the ethics in design (www.fastcodesign.com).

Ethics in Design

Ethics is the regulation dealing with what is better and awful with ethical obligations and duties (www.fkm.utm.my, p.1). Ethics in design is the emerging concept of ethics. Prusynki defines design as an embryonic industry with many concerns adjoining it. A job description of the designer is expanding day by day. Designers work as conversationalists and serve the leading roles to society. Many organization and foremost designers have started to question the responsibilities of designers in the society and bring the matter of design ethics to light. On the other hand, many designers argue that ethics in design does not need to be a preference.

It clears from Prusynski research that, design plays a vital role in globalization, consumerism, branding and cultural un-sustainability. Designers have the ethical responsibilities, and they have to open their eyes and inspect their responsibilities in the globe. As artistic and talented people, they have the potential to formulate majorly affecting statements that can have the encouraging effects on humanity. A designer classifies him/ herself by deciding and acting in a definite way, although at any instant, he/she is free to prefer and do something in a different way and this despite the past. Being are not to be detained as objects by whoever exercises design (Anjou 2010).

The concept of Ethics in design clarifies that there is no concept of poor client in the design. Only designer will be poor if he/she will not work effectively. If designers want to be efficient enough, then he/she should consider him/her as a client, in order to understand the requirements of the clients. If designers will just focus on the money, and try to windup their work, than their design will be flop (Shaughnessy 2009).
