This paper intends to discuss the significance of ethics, epistemology and religion. The sub disciplines of ethics, epistemology and religion are considered important parts of the field of philosophy. From the sub disciplines of ethics, epistemology and religion; I have chosen the topic of 'what is good life and how does one achieve it?' There are many reasons behind choosing this topic. I believe this topic would cover sound knowledge related to ethics. People in order to know what good life is; must focus over being ethical. Therefore; I believe the topic I have chosen would provide a brief analysis of how ethics work in real life. Also; the topic would provide an outlook about different ethical systems, ethical principles and the capability to differentiate between good and bad in the realm of ethics. The purpose of this paper is to make the readers aware about the significance of ethics in leading a good life and also to elaborate how people can achieve living good lives.
What is Good Life and How Does One Achieve It?
Good life has a different meaning to everyone. To some, good life is living luxuriously; to some, good life is living a spiritual life and to some, good life is living happily and enjoying every moment of life. Despite the fact that everyone has a different definition of good life; there is a mutual understanding between people that good life is something which every wants to live. Good life is essentially living a pure and natural life in the most basic form described by God (Tuan, 2003).
Living a good life provides extreme pleasure to everyone. All the compassionate things that people do in order to achieve their worldly goals and to make their relationships nurture in the most pure form lead people towards living a good life. The ultimate end result of living a good life is the personal fulfillment and satisfaction. There are people who consider that living a good life only means being able to appreciate all of your lifetime; not only finding your leisure time worthy of appreciation.
Different Philosophers have provided different viewpoints related to good life and happiness. For instance, Plato and Aristotle have considered morality as one of the most important genres of interpretation. The views of Plato and Aristotle reveal that the underlying true characters of moral and political virtues summarize the personal happiness of all the people differently. For philosophers like Plato and Aristotle; being ethical and moral remains important aspects of a good life (Dworkin, 2011).
Living a good life requires the ethical approach to the world. Ethics and morality makes people capable of achieving a good life.
