For centuries or since the inception of Earth and mankind, people have been born or at least compelled to follow ethics, thereby making it a crucial form of life. Be it be people coming from royal dynasties like the Yang Dynasty prevalent in China or the people belonging to the Roman Empire, all have looked to the values and norms in ethical conduct and paved way for the application and implementation of ethics in their respected lives (American, 2010).

Business Ethics has been a frequently practiced notion that has been and is flourishing with the passage of time all over the world. As people become more aware of one another's background and current standing, along with the importance of divine values and norms that have been often practiced around the world, we see that primitive methods of dealing with individuals, such as bureaucracy and autocratic rule around the organization now have become outdated. These days, individual employees and the people working on the presidential and executive level work hand in hand to achieve their target, goals and existence and create rapport among all individuals around the organization (American, 2010).

For this paper, we shall aim to decipher and try to understand that how had the decision in stem cell research has incorporated Consequentialism within the context of giving out maximum benefit to people, but as the saying goes, anything that is legal does not necessarily mean it is ethical.

Introduction

Stem cells are unique cells capable of differentiating into specialized cell types when required. Stem cells aid in the healing process of injuries by regenerating the lost areas of the body. Broken bones, ripped muscles, cut or scratched skin and other possible damages are covered with stem cells of the body. They regenerate forming into the specialized cells (muscle cells, bone cells, blood cells, skin cells, etc.) to make up for the loss. Stem cells are further categorized in terms of their sources; embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells. Embryonic stem cells are derived from a four to five days old human embryo, which further divide and specialize to form different parts organs and other body structures. Adult stem cells, or somatic stem cells, are found within different types of tissues. These remain in a dormant state for years until stimulated by a disease or injury (American Academy of Pediatrics and the, 2009).

Ethics and Stem Cell Research

Ethics and stem cell research have been severely criticized on several occasions. The idea of embryos and child development undertaken in the light of scientific methodology and medicinal tools and techniques have been greatly disliked and despised by many. On one hand, individuals circulating and fixating themselves upon the notion and context of improving child development through analysis of embryos, developing in the womb of the mother, implies great hope and provides more room for development and consideration of the future generations coming ahead.
