Promote Ethical Behavior at Work

Introduction

Ethics is an essential business expression because of its application in all workplaces. In spite of the business function, employee who fails to establish as well as maintain ethical practices in the workplace can elevate the risk of not only organizational dishonesty but also legal liabilities. In every job, it is fundamental that employees perform themselves with respect to the workplace policies along with appropriate state and federal laws (Bandura, 2001, pp. 193-209). The employees need to know the rules and regulations of an organization in which work. The decisions taken within organizations are not neutral, who decides make choices between different courses of action and consequences unleashed, there enters ethical reflection. There is no way to unlink and moral interests in the company or moral pressures and operated by the company. Thus, the important thing is not whether the company has a moral essence, but if the consequences of decisions taken or not this is beneficial for most parties involved. Companies no longer play a role only economic but also an ethical function in society (Joseph, 2003).

This paper aims to analyze the ethical and moral values that have guided the adoption of behaviors and attitudes in an organization. It also sought to investigate the maturity of moral judgment of managers and employees in the companies studied (Badaracco & Webb, 2005, pp. 8-28). The ethics studies the moral duty to do the qualification of good and evil, the best way to act collectively. Evaluates and customs says which moral actions are morally valid and which are not, tends to establish the valuation principles and conduct of life. Regarding ethics within companies, there are two aspects involved: personal ethics and business ethics.

Background

The understanding of employees' perception, attitude, motivation as well as behaviors is very significant for obtaining both managerial and business efficiency. Managers should need to realize, anticipate and develop behaviors which are meaningful and appropriate with respect to organizations policies and practices (Hochwater et al, 2000, pp. 472-478). Different workshops need to be organized to provide knowledge to employees about the benefits of implementing ethical practices at work. The concern with ethics and morals used in enterprises has been growing since the late twentieth century. Many companies have been keen to publicize their values and even, more recently, several companies are adopting a code of ethics to guide internal practices in the organization. Given the ambiguity and the increasing complexity of contemporary business practices - the result of the new requirements for efficiency, innovation and competitiveness, ethical reflection underpins that have organizational cohesion. After all, dilemmas and uncertainties appear incessantly and predict a risk becomes increasingly difficult (Joseph, 2003).
