Ethical Management in Scenario One

Every organization follows certain mission and values and in order to accomplish these set mile stones it is imperative for organization to follow certain rules and regulations and objectives. It is fact that the main purpose of operating the business is to earn profit and to operate the business lucratively. In order to accomplish this mission it is indispensible that resource of the organization that is the personnel of the organization should be effective and efficient. For this, employees are hired by keeping into consideration particular objectives and strategy. I agree with this idea that employees should only be hired according to their skills and potential to contribute to the work of the organization, and judged only by the work that they produce. This can also be proved to be ethically right. For instance, let's take into consideration the example of the Utilitarian view. According to the Utilitarian's, an ethical action is one that is good for the large number of people. If an organization hires an individual on the basis of the skills and capabilities then it would be good for all the organization. This is because it would allow the organization to progress and grow (Terry, 2008). The growth and progress of the organization in turn would make the people of the organization to grow and progress and move ahead. On the other hand, if there would be no established strategy then employers would hire people who may not be efficient. In the absence of strategy or objective, of hiring people employers may hire people because of sympathy and may also render personal favours to relatives although they may not be competitive and efficient. This would affect the performance of the organization and an organization would remain unable to achieve its objectives. In this way, this would not result in the growth of the organization and would consider option of hiring freeze and downsizing. This shows that if there would not be this objective of hiring skilful people then large number of people would not get benefit (Paul and Jacqueline, 2007).

Ethical Management in Scenario Two

In the given scenario, by keeping into consideration the ethical views I would prefer to go for the second option that is conducting an open search for employees with the best skills. There are many reasons to choose and support this option. First of all, it would restrict me to practice biasness and discrimination. If I only open this opportunity to my family, relatives and friends then I would be ignoring the whole society behind. An opportunity should be made available to all the people and the best candidate should be selected on the basis of their skills and competencies. Another way in which this step can be proved is the rule of consequentialism that suggests that means should not be considered or preferred to achieve an end. If this opportunity will only remain open to the friends, families and relatives then in this case, ...
