Introduction

The essay “Self-Reliance” by Ralph Waldo Emerson discusses a set of laws for living that challenges all preceding codes and supports a complete society viewpoint ahead of logic to a number of minds. He persuades the readers to free themselves of conventionality. The passage which I have chosen to reflect upon is “As men's prayers...” on page 16 to “...as on the first morning” on page 17 of the handout.
