About Dissertation

The main purpose of this dissertation is to explore the scores of advantages that a business of retail can get by going online. Another key purpose would be to reveal disadvantages involved in this step. The report on retailing would describe the e-retailing business. The world of retail trade and the ways in which people used to shop had undergone tremendous changes. Gone are the days when retail was associated only with shopping, purchasing goods on the printed directory. Nobody has thought that the technology and the advent of the internet would change the nature in which the organizations used to conduct their businesses. The advent of the internet started the trend to shop online. Well, this is all true, and this is what this paper would discuss. Shopping and buying things online is in vogue. This trend urges retailers to move form ground to the world of internet. E-retailing is the process of selling goods to consumers electronically through the internet (Martin, 2004). Business of e-retailing includes selling goods through websites. An organization can have many advantages from e-retailing. E-retailing plays a significant role in raising profits (Patrick, 2010). E-retailing reduces the number of cost overheads such as cost related to storage, display space and workers' salaries and allows an organization to earn a profit. E-retailing provides an effective way to start a different business at low cost. This facilitates access to customers from all over the world via the web site. In the business, of e-retailing every internet user is a potential customer, therefore, the business of e-retail offers increase in sales. Electronic sales are an easy way to attract customers. It attracts those customers who do not have enough time to shop or do not have the time to go to the market. E-retailing provides new outlets that reach directly to customers without the presence of any intermediary (Charles, 2004). On the contrary, there are many disadvantages of e-retailing. Several studies have shown that the reasons for the failure of e- retail lies in meeting the demands and needs of customers through the internet. E-retailers have merely one chance to leave a favourable impression on customers after that it depends on customer whether he comes again or not. In addition to this, there is an issue of security and trust. Customers feel hesitation in providing information that is required for the transaction o internet (Roger, 2006). Another limitation related to the conducting business online is that only few products can be offered to customers. For instance, books can be sold online but for products like shoes that require customers to experience the product cannot be sold through e-retailing.
