Introduction

The topic revolves around the concept of diverse team that can lead towards variance of ideas, creativity and innovation (Knight et.al, 1999, pp. 445). It helps to perform different varieties of task and handle different types of jobs with the help of their diverse pool of skills. It has been reported that with passing time every organization is emphasizing upon the concept of out of the box thinking which is only possible with the help of teams that are made up of people with different variety of skills, experience and background (Lewis, 2006, pp.1). Race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientations are some of the examples of important diversity factors (O'Mara, 1999, pp.5).

Discussion

The diversity in teams will result in innovation of processes and solutions. According to a report, diversity is the main driver behind organization productivity. It provides organization employees with different set of mind frames and thinking will result in innovation of processes and solutions while like minded people will always give similar solution which will limit organization's scope and chance of giving rise to innovative ideas and products (Focus Consultancy, pp.4). As every organization wants to become international and tap the untapped market present across the border, it becomes extremely important to train and educated the organization employee accordingly so that they are able to deal with the challenges of operating and functioning effectively across the border. Diversity results in both loss and gain for the team members. The idea is to use the gains to minimize the liabilities (Stahl, et.al, 2009, pp. 3). Trust and engagement at both international and local level is important in management of diverse teams (Bartels-Ellis et.al, 2010, pp. 6).

Such teams will prove to be more effective and efficient in comparison to the teams that are homogenous or have people with similar skills and experience. Though it will be easier for such teams to outperform homogenous teams but in the long run such teams will also pose challenges in the face of management and organization. As there will be people belonging to different ethnic and cultural background that might create difference in the way they work and operate. Such challenges can be resolved with the help of effective managing and organizing techniques by giving them enough incentive and rewards so that people put their cultural disparities behind and put their job in the front (Lewis, 2006, pp.2).
