Environmental issues can be discussed within a number of different contexts. For anthropology and sociology, culture and society become important factors in understanding environmental issues. By incorporating a perspective, that includes environmental history, aspects of environmental change, dialogue and culture, and future concerns, a more complete understanding of the relationship between socio-cultural actions and the natural environment can be developed. In an effort to understand the nature of environmental problems, one must develop an understanding of the cultural paradigms that guide human behavior and interaction with the natural environment. Many perspectives seek to explain this relationship. Social scientists look toward dialogue and cultural perspectives to trace the history of environmental concern.
Discussion and analysis
Historically, humans have understood their role to be one of dominion over nature. This is explained in numerous classic works and referenced in many religious and spiritual texts as well. Cultural paradigms exist that serve to guide our interactions with the environment. Most stem from the anthropocentric belief that the world is centered on people and that human society has the right to maintain dominion over nature. Structural beliefs provide the foundation of these understandings (Dorinda, 2010).
The main environmental problem in India is its growing population, which is expected to increase to 1, 8 billion by 2050. In order to feed such a large population requires more groundwater for crop irrigation, which increases the risk of poor soil quality due to salinity (salt level rises). The use of artificial fertilizers from cropland is a threat to drinking water. The demand for meat increases with higher levels of well-being, because of excessive livestock may increase desert. Demand for wood fuel arises due to the increase of rural population, resulting in the death of trees and forests. To reduce dependence on wood fuel, the government encourages the use of biogas (a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide during the decomposition of organic matter) as a fuel for cooking.
The environmental issues in India
Environmental problems cannot be analyzed and understood if one takes into account the perspective Overall, they arise because of multiple interacting factors. Our model of life represents an expenditure of energy and natural resources ever increasing and unsustainable. The forms industrial production and mass consumption that make it possible in the medium term involve the destruction the planet. Some effects of the ecological crisis are already clearly visible: increased temperatures, whole in the ozone layer, desertification, accumulation of radioactive waste, extension diseases such as cancer or malaria, unsafe freshwater food insecurity, depletion of renewable and nonrenewable resources, etc.
Problems emerging through environmental issues
Expansion of the rural population is also affected by wild animals. Farmers and ranchers are beginning to use land adjacent to national parks, wildlife sanctuaries territories, as well as the spread of cultivation leads to a limited range of habitat of such animals as tigers and elephants outside the park. Poaching is also a problem. Thousands of Indian plants are threatened with extinction, mainly due to ...
