Diagnosis and Interpretation of Climate-induced water scarcity in Saskatoon

Saskatoon located in Canada has been facing the climate-induced water scarcity. The utility Saskatoon Light and Power has said that the bilge pump was running the vault, but was not able to drain the water as the collector was not working properly. The resulting drop in the electrical service in the downtown stores forced to close their curtains and evacuate thousands of people who were asked to leave the downtown buildings, including Midtown Plaza (Joseph 2004, p. 464). Saskatoon is located along a riverbed, and therefore on the part of the relatively thin crust representing a riverbed. These are lowlands, which provide a good route for the drainage of the river, because the ground is down there. The climate-induced water scarcity at Saskatoon can be identified through the use of the models given below:

Hazards-risk models of vulnerability

The Hazards-risk model of vulnerability has been used for identifying the impact of the hazards on the community. This model has been useful in the identification of the exposure sensitivity of the vulnerability at Saskatoon. Through this model it has been identified that there are very negative impacts of the hazards in Saskatoon (Joseph 2004, p. 464). The model has identified that Microbiological problems that occur most often in the reserves of groundwater and surface water are due to bacteria and viruses, although these organisms are usually more common in surface water.

The PAR Model (Pressure & Release Model)

With the help of PAR Model it has been identified that the climate induced water scarcity at Saskatoon is considered to be the disaster as the PAR model takes the physical exposure and the socio-economic pressure as the disaster.
