Environmental Impact Assessment

Introduction

This essay is based on Environmental Impact Assessment. This assignment will interpret and apply the legislative requirements of EIA, critically evaluate the methods used in predicting environmental impacts, assess the quality and the validity / uncertainty of environmental of environmental data in decision making and will prepare mitigation plans and direct residual impacts for sections of the high speed 2 railway development.

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is one of the most important tools to prevent environmental degradation in the country and is administered by the Environmental Evaluation Service. It is a management tool designed to prevent environmental degradation due to the implementation of investment projects in the country. The EIA is a document that describes in detail the characteristics of a project or activity to be carried out or modified. An environmental impact study should provide grounds for predicting history, identification, and interpretation of environmental impact and describe the actions to be executed or to prevent or minimize significant adverse effects. The EIA environmental impact studies determine whether the project or activity is responsible for the environmental impacts generated by the application of mitigation measures, repair and / or compensation (Chen, 2009).

The environmental impact assessment for sections of the high speed 2 railway development reflects a basic principle of environmental policy. For each theme, the impact study will show the initial state of the environment and territorial issues, the expected impacts of the installation (during different phases of construction to decommissioning) and the measures envisaged to suppress or offset these impacts. It is not always possible to accurately assess the full impact of the implementation of the project on the environment. In some cases, the proposals of the owner cannot be validated after the installation of wind turbines, even after several years of operation (noise disturbance, behavior and evolution of populations of birds, etc). In these cases, a tracking device can be drawn from the proposed reduction of impacts.

Monitoring for sections of the high speed 2 railway development can be defined as the means of analysis and measures to control the operation of structures and facilities to monitor the impact on the environment throughout the life cycle. Monitoring assumes an initial state of quality (Manickam, 2007).

Interpretation and Application of the Legislative Requirements of EIA

An environmental assessment of a project or a plan / program is made by the owner under its responsibility. It is to integrate the environmental and health issues throughout the preparation of a project, plan or program and the decision-making process that accompanies it. It reflects the anticipated effects and can analyze and justify the choices made in relation to the issues identified ...
